Today Square Enix announced the release date of the PS4 and Nintendo Switch ports of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters.

They will launch on the two consoles on April 19 and we even get a precise time, at t 8:00 am PDT or 4:00 pm BST depending on whether you're in North America or Europe. it's worth reminding that they're

If you're unfamiliar with the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, they're remastered versions of the original 2D Final Fantasy games from I to VI, and they're already available for PC and mobile.

The graphics have been redrawn while preserving the original look and feel. The music has also been remastered and rearranged under the supervision of Nobuo Uematsu (with the option of returning to the original version), while the sounds have been recreated.

Bestiary and Sound Player features, progression boost options, and the ability to remove random encounters complete the package.

On top of that, you're also able to choose between modern fonts or retro-style "pixelated" versions that are more similar to the original.

Final Fantasy was originally released all the way back in 1987, developed by Squaresoft much before it merged with Enix. The series then continued with a quasi-annual cadence until Final Fantasy VI's debut in 1994. VI was the last mainline Final Fantasy game to be drawn with pixel art before the big 3D revolution brought by Final Fantasy VII in 1997.
