Final Fantasy Origin

Square Enix has revealed new characters, locations, and jobs that will be in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, the ARPG Final Fantasy I prequel by Team Ninja.

Final Fantasy Origin was first revealed at E3 2021, with its release date announced back in October. We haven't gotten much information out of the game since E3, and now it looks like today (about 3 months out from release) we're finally getting some real info about the upcoming Final Fantasy title.

What's new with Final Fantasy Origin?

The first new character revealed in Final Fantasy Origin is Sophia, a warrior that joins Jack and his friends on their journey to defeat Chaos. A character who doesn't join the group is Astos, who lives in the Western Keep and is the king of the dark elves. He apparently knows the location of the crystals and seems to know about Jack and his group somehow. The last character revealed is Tiamat, who is a "multi-headed monstrosity" and is known as the Fiend of Wind. It attacks with its long necks and uses wind-element attacks such as Whirlwind and Tempest.

In order to meet these characters, you'll have to go to them, and the first location revealed, The Western Keep, is where you'll meet Astos. It's an ancient castle that shares a deep connection with Astos, and as you explore the keep giant arrows will be flying towards you, so stay on your toes.

The second location is the Crystal Mirage, which is a translucent tower that "rises above the trees deep in the forest." If you reach the highest levels, that's quite the feat, and you won't know why until you start ascending the tower.

Speaking of high levels, The aptly named The Flying Fortress is a castle "that towers high in the sky." The castle contains the remnants of an advanced civilization, and apparently, the wind crystal can be found within it.

While meeting these new characters and exploring these fantastical locations players will be utilizing the job system in Final Fantasy Origin. There are a bunch of different jobs available, including Swordfighter, Marauder, Mage, Lancer, Black Mage, and more. There are basic jobs like Mage or Swordfighter, and as you level up you'll unlock Job Points that you can then use to unlock higher-ranking jobs and new abilities.

Whew, that's a lot that we just went over. However, if you want to know more, be sure to check into the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin – Final Fantasy Birthday stream on December 18, which can be found below:

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store on March 18, 2022, and is available for pre-order if you're into that kind of thing. For more information on all things Final Fantasy, stay tuned to TechRaptor.
