Square Enix has claimed that three DLC missions for upcoming action RPG Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin won't be available outside of the Digital Deluxe Edition. However, this is inaccurate; the tweet announcing this is either not very well-worded or flat out wrong.
What's going on with these Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin DLC missions?
In a tweet, Square Enix advertised the Digital Deluxe Edition of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. The studio said that this edition would come with three additional missions: Trials of the Dragon King, Wanderer of the Rift, and Different Future. At the end of the tweet, Square Enix says these three missions "won't be available separately". The wording of this tweet suggests you'll only get these missions if you buy the Digital Deluxe Edition, but this isn't actually the case.
The simple truth is this: if you pick up the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin season pass, you'll receive these three missions as well. The season pass is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition package, which is why you'll get those three missions. Square Enix's tweet isn't very well-worded; it suggests the missions will only be available as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition. However, as Twitter user Dengo points out, the PlayStation Store description for the game states that the season pass will, in fact, include the three missions outlined in the tweet. It seems Square Enix meant these missions wouldn't be available to buy one by one and would only be part of the season pass, but the studio could have communicated this better.
When is the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin release date?
You'll be able to get your hands on Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin when it launches this coming March. Originally announced back in June alongside a demo, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a Soulslike take on the long-running JRPG series. It stars Jack, Ash, and Jed, three warriors drawn into the game's world and tasked with destroying Chaos (which, thanks to overuse in the original announcement trailer, became a meme after the game's reveal).
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will launch for PlayStation consoles, Xbox platforms, and PC on March 18th next year. It will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on the latter platform. We'll bring you more about the game's launch plans and its DLC as soon as we get it. Unfortunately, you've missed your chance to play the two demos that showed off the game's combat and setting, but it's not long until the full game launches. Watch this space for more info.
