Square Enix has announced the western release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for the PS4 and Xbox One systems. The release date is set to March 17 in North America and March 20 in Europe. It will be accompanied by a demo for the much anticipated Final Fantasy XV, which will be available for free to those who purchase Type-0. The demo is being released under the name Episode Duscae. Type-0 takes steps away from traditional Final Fantasy games. According to Hajime Tabata, the director of Type-0, the game's subject matter is geared toward a wider audience, and is adopting a real time combat system, as opposed to the standard turn based system used in most Final Fantasy games.
To sum it all up, it’s a more mature FINAL FANTASY. It’s a FINAL FANTASY that has been created with a very mature theme never seen before in the franchise. As you can see from the gameplay, the game has been shifted into a seamless combat system instead of a turn-based system. It’s this seamless feel that we’re trying to infuse into the game. Even in the story telling aspect, the game also feels like a documentary showing a record of war featuring all the characters themselves. Those were the kinds of elements that were really praised in Japan when the original game was first released. To be able to draw out those personal emotions of the characters themselves into the game, we felt it would really appeal to the new fan base overseasFinal Fantasy Type-0 was announced in 2006, and was released on the PSP in Japan in 2011, but never reached the west. Final Fantasy fans will finally be able to experience the game with updated graphics, and expanded gameplay. They'll also get a peak at Final Fantasy XV, of which little is known about right now.
