Co-operative dungeon-crawling action RPG Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition launches January 23rd. As the name suggests, the game is a remastered version of 2003's GameCube-exclusive Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. It was originally announced back in 2018.
The remastered edition will pack in all the original game's content plus some new stuff. Naturally, it'll have overhauled HD visuals. The game hasn't lost that adorable jagged GameCube charm though, so don't worry. The game's official website (you'll have to translate from Japanese) is also promising "improved playability", although we're not quite sure what that means yet. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will fully support online multiplayer. The game's coming out on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices, and it'll support cross-platform play between all of them. In addition, if you want to maintain your save data between platforms, you can do so. You will need to buy a new copy of the game for each platform though. There's no word yet on whether the game supports local multiplayer on PS4 and Switch. Given that the original Crystal Chronicles was based largely around this feature, it seems likely, but Square Enix is pushing the online aspect, so we'll have to wait and see.
The game will also include some new dungeons and bosses for you and your buddies to tackle. It'll boast entirely reworked voiceovers, as well as new character skins to unlock and new items to equip. All told, it's looking like a good time for fans of the spinoff series. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition launches for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and iOS and Android devices on January 23rd, 2020. No word yet on PC or Xbox One releases, if they happen at all. Watch this space for more news.
