Will we be seeing a Final Fantasy 7 remake PC version? According to what some data miners have found, the odds are looking good.

As PC Gamer reports, data miners have discovered bits of code which indicate that a Final Fantasy 7 remake PC version may be in development. Specifically, they've noticed higher resolutions and framerates than the reported 1080/30fps that the PlayStation 4 version will be running at, as well as references to both NVIDIA and AMD.

While an Imgur album containing images pulled from an early demo by data miners has since disappeared, a web archive is still very much available [Spoilers]. It doesn't have much in the way of datamined information regarding a PC port, but you can get a peek at some neat pre-release (and in many cases, very rough) images if you're keen on seeing some of that.

When Will We See a Final Fantasy 7 Remake PC port?

If the data miners are right, we're going to be seeing the Final Fantasy 7 remake on PC. As noted on the /r/pcgaming subreddit, there are "many" signs that a port is likely. The next big question is simply this: when?

Well, the game is firmly set as a PlayStation 4 exclusive for at least a year and it is exceedingly unlikely that we would see any kind of PC release before that time period passes. As the game is coming out on March 3, 2020, the earliest we'd see it is March 3, 2021. (My money is personally on March 4, 2021, or March 9, 2021, as games are typically launched on Tuesdays or Thursdays.)

It is, of course, entirely possible that it will be delayed in order to make sure that the PC port is just right. Things have changed significantly since the PlayStation 1 release more than 20 years ago, though, and modern consoles are much closer in architecture to gaming PCs these days, making multiplatform development much less of a headache. If we're lucky, we'll see this hotly-anticipated remake on the PC in March 2021 at the earliest. In the meantime, you'll be able to get the Final Fantasy 7 remake for the PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.

Will you pick up the FF7 remake on the PlayStation 4 or will you be holding out hope for a PC version? What do you think of the overall look of the game? Let us know in the comments below!
