Today we learn that Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis is now set to launch into its closed beta state in the summer of 2023, though it was initially set to release this year.
Back in February of 2021, we learned that the mobile game, Final Fantasy Ever Crisis, was heading to the masses in 2022. Sadly, that is no longer the case. Square has announced that the closed beta has been pushed back to the summer of 2023 in a new trailer released today.
Final Fantasy Ever Crisis is a mobile game that claims to contain the entire Final Fantasy 7 storyline from the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7, which includes the main game, and the various projects around it. That would include Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, and Before Crisis. While the date being pushed back might be heartbreaking for the fans of the franchise, it might just mean that they are holding out to ensure the quality of the game meets the fan's expectations.

Final Fantasy 1-6 Pixel Remaster Coming to Switch and PlayStation
On the other side of the coin, we learn some pretty exciting news; Final Fantasy 1-6's Pixel Remaster versions have been rated by the ESRB for the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. A tweet from January 2022 shows the rating was only for PC, and a Reddit user found that it now says PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, though they are unsure when these new platforms were added to the ratings in the first place.
So what exactly are the Pixel Remaster versions of FF 1-6? The remastered versions bring us updated sprites, several quality-of-life changes, and a rearranged soundtrack to enjoy. The content included in these is only that which was in the original versions, so the additional content added during othe re-releases like on handhelds is not in these versions. These remasters were released on Mobile, and then PC back in 2021, but have yet to make their way to consoles. With that said, it appears that they will be heading to the PS4 and Switch soon. Fans hoping to see the release soon, may hope for a shadowdrop during the Final Fantasy 35th anniversary live stream coming tomorrow.
