During IGN's Summer of Gaming 2020 event's fourth day, we learned that the super weird and strangely anticipated fighting game Fight Crab will be launching at the end of next month, with Fight Crab hitting Steam on July 30th. The trailer showcased a bunch of goofy moments, from crabs fighting with laser swords to chainsaws to nunchucks. It's all hilarious and certainly looks like the kind of game you'd enjoy if you need a light-hearted physics brawler to play with your friends.
Fight Crab is being developed by Calappa Games, a weird Japanese developer behind other strange fish-based games, such as bizarre underwater shooter Ace of Seafood, or multiplayer shooter NEO AQUARIUM - The King of Crustaceans. Both games have been very well received, and are well known for just how bizarre they are. After all, where else can you play as a fish that shoots lasers out of its mouth at other laser fish?
Fight Crab promises the ability to play as 23 different crabs and offers 48 weapons for you to use to try and commit crustacean murder with. The game will launch with both 1v1 and 2v2 online and offline multiplayer modes. In addition to this, there's a campaign mode with 41 battles. It has probably the best description of any game I ever read, and I'm just going to quote it in full so you can enjoy it too:
In some completely different, super weird world, crabs have mastered human weapons and taken over the land.
Now immortal, these crabs cannot be killed by gun nor blade.
However, there is one crustacean rule by which all must live:
"He who turns his back to the ground shall know defeat..."
That's right - get flipped over on your back in battle, and you have no choice but to submit to your opponent.
I love it. Fight Crab will be available on July 30th for PC.
