stardew valley multiplayer update release date

After a couple of years of waiting and nearly three months worth of testing, Stardew Valley players won't have to wait much longer for multiplayer to make its way to PC - a tweet from the game's creator ConcernedApe has announced that the update will be releasing on August 1, 2018.

Stardew Valley is a farming RPG in the style of the Harvest Moon series of games. My review of the game praised this title for just how well it lives up to its spiritual predecessor and how it's a finely crafted game that's great for players of all speeds. Now you'll be able to enjoy this fine title with your friends very soon - the multiplayer update for Stardew Valley will be releasing in just a few short days. A trailer was released alongside the announcement showing you some of the fun things you can do:

The multiplayer update adds a number of features to the game, primarily the ability to play with up to three of your friends. (Adventurous players have been able to mod in more people past the limit, so don't worry about who you might have to cut out of the fun.) Each player gets their own home of a sort and can marry bachelor(ette)s or one another. Of course, a ton of new content has also made its way into the game like the Night Market festival in Winter, an opportunity to purchase wonderous rare items or go deep-sea fishing.

Console players are going to have a bit longer to wait, unfortunately. The beta took place on PC and resulted in a large number of fixes being made. All we know about the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of the game is that it will be getting multiplayer functionality "soon". The PlayStation Vita version will not be getting multiplayer support.

If Stardew Valley sounds like a boatload of fun to you, you can pick it up for yourself on Steam, the Humble Store, or on GOG for $14.99 or your regional equivalent.
