While we already knew about the existence of GATO STUDIO's fantasy RPG The Waylanders, today's IGN Summer of Gaming trailer brings new gameplay and a release date. Players will get to experience this world of Celtic myth when it releases in Early Access on June 16th.

The Waylanders is a tale about the first meeting between the Celtics and their gods, the Tuatha de Danaan. However, things go terribly wrong, the hero becomes untethered from time, the land is tainted with magical corruption, and multiple factions are warring for the throne. Being untethered from time, the hero can travel between the times of the Celts and Medieval times. The Celtic culture and all of its mythology are in danger of being torn apart, and things become even more complex when your character discovers that being untethered from time allows them to travel between the Celtic and Medieval eras.

Inspired by classics like Baldur's Gate and Dragon Age: OriginsThe Waylanders features a story written by acclaimed scriptwriters like Emily Grace Buck (Lead Writer,) Chris Avellone (Writer,) and Mike Laidlaw (Consultant.) Also joining the team is Emmy award-winner, 3-time BAFTA nominee, and Fallout main theme composer Inon Zur. These star creators are creating a deeply tactical party-based RPG rooted deeply in Celtic mythology. Offering six basic classes, 30 advanced ones, and five races based off of Celtic myth, players have plenty of customization options as they seek the reason the Celtic world fell apart. Was it the corrupt magics released by the meeting with the Tuatha de Danaan, or was it a mix of politics and religion at fault, or perhaps, to thank?

The Waylanders releases on Steam Early Access on June 16th.
