The popular Bethesda phone game Fallout Shelter is suffering from a potentially major bug.

Recently released for Android phones, Fallout Shelter has a major data-corrupting bug that happens when your phone either dies or runs out of memory. According to user reports, the bug causes the game to crash, and any attempts to re-load the save file fail. This essentially leads to the loss of your save game, as the save files are reset to 0 kb, which means they become blank.

The loss of your Fallout Shelter save includes any in-game purchases and micro transactions the player may have purchased with their lunchboxes. The problems were first reported on the Bethesda forums on August 14th, and has since been discussed on Reddit. Several fans have also complained about losing money off of the game due to this bug. As of right now, Bethesda has not yet commented on the situation. It is also rumored that this bug is affecting the iOS versions of the game as well, but this can't be verified. There are currently no permanent fixes to the bug.

Fallout Shelter has you play a vault overseer who must build and make your vault citizens happy by assigning jobs and training their statistics over time, while balancing resources and meters of your citizens. As a free-to-play title, the game offers players lunchboxes, an in-game currency that contains rewards and resources to help along your vault and their citizens.

Fallout Shelter has been wildly popular since its release earlier this summer, when the game was released right before E3 this year at the Bethesda conference. The iOS version of Fallout Shelter has made over $5.1 million in sales within two weeks of it's initial launch. The android version launched on August 13th.

So is this going to deter you from trying out Fallout Shelter? Has this bug affected you at all? Leave your comments below.
