Bethesda Game Studios announced in a tweet today the release date for Fallout Shelter on Android devices. The popular mobile game will release on Android devices August 13th, 2015.
The new platform for the game will also be graced with an updated version of the game. One such update includes the Mr. Handy premium award which can be used for gathering resources and loot, or for defending your vault from outside invasion. The iOS version of the game will receive an update the same day as the Android release.
Fallout Shelter had previously only been available for iOS devices. The game had been announced on June 14th, 2015, during Bethesda's E3 conference alongside Fallout 4 and the collector's addition Pip-Boy accessory. Other games mentioned include Doom 4 and Dishonored 2.
The Fallout themed app turned out to be a success right out of the gate, with a reported profit of $5.1 million within it's first two weeks after being released on the App Store!
For those out of the know, Fallout Shelter is a mobile game that puts the player in the role as Overseeer of your own Vault. Players are tasked with being the community manager. Keeping their Vault Dwellers happy and healthy, while watching out for, preventing, and dealing with threats form the post-apocalyptic outside world make up only some of the many responsibilities to the man or woman responsible for this oasis of shelter amidst of post-apocalyptic hellscape. Fallout Shelter is free, with in-game purchases. However all content can be obtained by playing the game.
