Terrible lag and strange visual bugs are just the tip of the iceberg for Fallout 76's shaky launch. You can hear more on my thoughts with our upcoming review, but it looks like I'm not the only one experiencing trouble.

One of the most interesting features in Fallout 76 has turned into one of the most mundane. A big part of the game was acquiring parts of a nuclear launch code and then deciphering them to launch a nuke.

Two programs have released which allow players to essentially bypass decryption once you have the necessary pieces for the code. Reddit user joshuadaleadams created a program available on github. Once you have the eight keys for one of three nuclear silos, you just need to put a question mark in the empty fields, and the program will cycle through possible codes. He also says:

The more complete the keyword the faster the process will run and the less results you will get in the output.
Another Reddit user, Waffle_Cop,created the nukacrypt website that streamlines the process. In any case, what was once a difficult process has become something much easier. Nukes might be more common in the game's future.

Another concerning bug isn't gamebreaking so much as it is terrifying. Some users are turning into lanky, elongated beasts. On the Xbox One version of the game, players become "stuck" in their power armor, except once they appear to have taken it off, it morphs their character's body.

The power armor user interface is still viewable, and their character still acts as though they have the armor on, even though they are stuck.

Outside of the game, the $200 Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition has some issues too. Reddit user Allta expressed discontent over the Power Armor helmet's poor paint quality, and a strong smell of spray paint when they wear it. Apparently, the voice changer and headlamp also don't work properly, but to what extent Allta did not say.

Check back for our Fallout 76 review soon, and be sure to look out for those power armor monsters. In the meantime, you can read some thoughts we had on the beta.

Quick Take

I've been playing through Fallout 76, and there's no shortage of problems. First, it is easily the worst performing game I've ever played from any AAA developer. It makes Brink look good. Secondly, I have not come across nukes or this power armor glitch, but from my experience, I'm really not surprised.

Have you been playing Fallout 76? Have you experienced any of these issues or launched a nuke yet? Let us know in the comments below!
