Fallout 4 Wasteland Workshop DLC

The second piece of DLC for Fallout 4 is set to release on April 12th, according to Bethesda

The Wasteland Workshop DLC will allow players to play a little game of Pokemon as you can design and set up cages to capture live creatures, including cats, stingwings, even raiders and of course, deathclaws. You then have to tame them, only to have them face off in battle against each other, or your fellow settlers.

Wasteland Workshop is not just about creature capture. The other big feature is the amount of building blocks and items that will be given to the player for settlement customization. Some of the items mentioned by Bethesda include taxidermy and nixie tube lighting, and there is plenty more shown off in the Wasteland Workshop trailer below, including decontamination machines and portable soil for food production.

Wasteland Workshop is the second DLC for Fallout 4. The first, Automatron was released last month, which allowed players to collect robot parts and build their own mechanized friends. There is a third, major expansion coming next month titled Far Harbor, which according to Bethesda, will feature the "largest landmass for an add-on that we've ever created."

Wasteland Workshop is available for purchase at $4.99, or is part of the Fallout 4 season pass, which includes Automatron and Far Harbor, at the $50 it was increased to earlier this year.

In other Fallout 4 news the Survival Mode beta was updated on Steam with some changes. In particular thirst, hunger, sleep and disease are now more visible status effects, and you no longer require quite as much food and beverages to keep alive. With that and some other fixes, the biggest change might be that they've lowered Carrying Capacity which with the loss of fast travel, need to have food and drinks on you and more has a lot of potential ripple effects on the experience.

Quick Take

Some folks at TechRaptor are not too fond of Fallout 4, but for me the customization and settlement building was one of the best parts of the game. It is clear Bethesda put a lot of time and effort into that system, so the Wasteland Workshop DLC is probably going to scratch that itch to add more little goodies for your settlements, especially important or practical things like new neon lights and planters for food.

As for capturing and "collecting" creatures, that will serve as a good distraction for sure, even though it fits in with the more ridiculous side of Fallout 4. What do you guys think though? Leave your comments below.
