Fallen London, one of the most text-heavy browser games (clocking in at over 2.5 million words) just turned 10 years old! To celebrate the milestone, Failbetter Games has announced a few big updates coming.

For those who don’t know, Fallen London is a story-heavy browser game, initially launched under the name Echo Bazaar, which gave way to a universe of Fallen London games – Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies and fellow browser game The Silver Tree. Fallen London takes inspiration from a variety of sources; H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, T.S. Eliot, and P.G. Wodehouse to name a few, but with a dark universal twist that’s all it's own.

Ambitions, also known as the reason you have come to the Neath, are the overarching stories each player chooses at the beginning of the game. In celebration of the 10th anniversary, these plotlines are finally going to be able to be completed. Launching each finale in 3 parts, the first part of the conclusion of Nemesis will be released today, January 14th. Following that will be the Bag a Legend part one release on March 3rd, Light Fingers on March 31st and Heart’s Desire on April 21st. No details have been released about plans for updates after the conclusion of the Ambition arcs, but Failbetter Games assures players it’s working on additional stories and advances to continue the world of the game.

In related news, Sunless Skies patch 1.3.7.0835313a was recently released and does some more tweaking to the game. Bug reports, rather ironically, have been debugged, ports and relays now have a wider safety circle for locomotives and ambient messages have been edited to keep more in line. Additionally, the news I’m personally thrilled about, Curators, Logoi and Eaters of the Dead are now a bit less unrelenting in their pursuit. Hopefully, that means I’ll finally be able to outrun one of them. Next to come is progress on the Sovereign Update which will be launched on both PC and console, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
