Action RPGs have become rather popular lately, and it seems another one is entering the fray. Late last year developer YummyYummyTummy announced Fallen Legion for the PlayStation 4. After an overwhelmingly positive response to the game, and many requests, they have announced they will also be bringing the game to the PlayStation Vita.
Fallen Legion is an action RPG that puts you in the role of Princess Cecille who is trying to save her kingdom after she inherits it. To assist her with this she has the Exemplars, who are legendary living weapons given bodies by a talking grimorie. The game combines elements of jRPGs and fighting games by having characters act in real time. You can chain combos, interrupt attacks, and also block enemy attacks. Time it well enough and you can reflect projectiles or stun enemies. Finish off a combo with a character and you get get them to use special attacks, and using combos of characters can also activate special abilities. The system promises to be deep and rewarding for fans of both RPGs and fighting games.
Yet you are playing as a princess, and so you do have to run your kingdom in between battles. As you run between combat, you'll have to quickly make decisions on certain subjects. Lets say another princess chooses to remove her rival during a battle. Do you sue her, threaten her, or kidnap her and take her prisoner? No matter what choice you make you will be getting buffs for you and your character, but you do have to make the choice quickly. The buffs you receive from this will stick with you for the rest of the stage, so you have to pick carefully as well.
There is no price point or exact release date currently announced, but Fallen Legion is coming out in the Summer of 2016 in both the Americas and Europe for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
