Mediatonic has announced that Fall Guys is going free-to-play, and that's not all -- the Fall Guys Xbox release date has also been revealed.
"The Big Announcement" promised to share... well, a big announcement. Mediatonic has certainly delivered on that promise: Fall Guys coming to Nintendo Switch and Xbox this summer, and it's going free-to-play, too.
Fall Guys will soon be available on Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and the Epic Games Store. Best of all, you won't have to start over or worry about missing your friends on any of these new platforms; the game will feature both cross-play and cross-progression, allowing you to easily switch between platforms or play with friends on other systems.
You won't have to pay to play the game anymore, either -- in addition to these new platforms, Fall Guys is going free-to-play. While there will likely be some level of progression allowing you to unlock cosmetics, you'll probably have to spend real-world money to unlock the best stuff.
Of course, there's the big elephant in the room -- what happens with the people who already bought the game? Mediatonic has decided that it will compensate the O.G. players with a "Legacy Pack" that will feature several cosmetic items.

The Fall Guys Nintendo Switch release date is the same day as the free-to-play and Xbox launches: June 21, 2022.
Update (May 16, 2022 - 2:20 PM) - @Wario64 has highlighted an important point that was revealed in the official blog post for this announcement -- much like Rocket League, Fall Guys is going to be removed from sale on Steam once it launches on the Epic Games Store. Existing owners will continue to receive updates for the game.
PlayStation [(TM)] and Steam [(TM)] players who already have a copy of Fall Guys will continue to receive all the usual updates (such as new seasons, patches and fresh features) that you’d expect. However, new players will no longer be able to download Fall Guys on Steam[--]if you’re new to Fall Guys and would like to play on PC, you can visit the Epic Games Store[(TM)] and download the launcher there. Wherever you choose to play Fall Guys (including Steam), you’ll be able to launch and stumble towards victory across platforms.
Naturally, the game will keep on going for PC and PlayStation. If you don't want to wait, you can buy Fall Guys for PC and PlayStation at the price of $19.99 or your regional equivalent.
