Gildarts Clive in the upcoming Fairy Tail game

Developer GUST Studios has announced two major new features for the upcoming Fairy Tail game. Gildarts Clive, the strongest man in the Fairy Tail guild, will be joining the fray, and you'll be able to enjoy the Eclipse story arc in the game.

Gildarts is described by GUST as "an S-Class Mage" who uses Crush magic to reduce his foes and his surroundings to rubble. Since you'll be able to put together a dream team of your favorite Fairy Tail characters, you can team Gildarts up with anyone you like. His incredible power should be a boon for any team you're assembling. News of Gildarts' inclusion also comes complete with a new story trailer for Fairy Tail, which you can check out right here:

In addition to Gildarts, GUST also announced the inclusion of the popular "Eclipse" story arc in the upcoming game. This arc revolves around the mysterious Project Eclipse, an experiment that opens a gateway into the past and unleashes ancient Dragons upon the world. You'll battle through the story arc's enemies, culminating in a climactic fight against the great dragon Zirconis. The "Tartaros" arc, which sees Natsu declaring war on the Dark Guild of Tartaros, will also be in the game.

With all this new content rolling in, it looks like a recent delay hasn't hurt Fairy Tail at all; quite the contrary, in fact. According to Gematsu, the Fairy Tail delay - which shifted the game's release date from March to mid-June - has enabled GUST to add more stuff to Fairy Tail. Here's everything GUST has been able to add to the game that wouldn't have been possible without the delay (thanks, Gematsu):

  • System, production, and balancing have been brushed up
  • Unison Raids not included in the original work have been added
  • Characters have been ranked up, allowing you to focus on training your favorite characters
  • The atmosphere of the setting has been enhanced

You'll be able to check all of this new stuff out when Fairy Tail launches for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 26th. It's an RPG that will focus on Natsu and company rebuilding their guild, upgrading their facilities, and recruiting new characters.
