Originally revealed in December of last year, Fae Tactics intrigued fans with its gameplay reminiscent of Final Fantasy Tactics. Now, we have a release window, and the good news is that it should be quite soon indeed.
Revealed during the PC Gaming Show today, we got a new look at Fae Tactics and also found out that it's coming out in Summer 2020. More good news is that it won't just release for the PC as was originally thought, but for the Nintendo Switch, as well. As of right now, there is no definitive date for the Switch release, but if you're already eager to play Fae Tactics, this Summer seems like the date for you.
Fae Tactics, which is developed by Endlessfluff Games (known for developing Valdis Story: Abyssal City), and published by Humble Games, is a turn-based tactics title. Emulating games such as Final Fantasy Tactics, you take the role of Peony, who has the ability to use magic and summon allies to aid her in tactical combat. You'll be able to use collectible "Fae" creatures in order to aid you while fighting; these Fae can level up and grow stronger.
With multi-tiered levels and an old-school but colorful pixelized style, players partake in a story-based campaign revolving around our protagonist, Peony. From the trailers we've seen, there's character dialogue and a bunch of diverse environments in Fae Tactics' world.
Truly, this is an indie after my heart. I've never had a chance to play games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre, but I've always meant to. Since this game clearly takes inspiration from those titles, I'm especially excited to try it out. It's also great news to see it arriving on the Nintendo Switch; honestly, it seems like the perfect title for the ultimate indie game system.
