In 2012, thatgamecompany released Journey, an anonymous adventure where players travel on a life's passage, on the PlayStation 3. Now in 2019, PC players are getting the opportunity to play the game early next month. Publisher Annapura Interactive is bringing the highly memorable adventure to a new system when it releases on the Epic Games Store June 6.
An Epic Journey
Journey is a 3D adventure game with light platforming elements where players control a nameless robed figure as they traverse a desert to reach a mountain that looms in the distance. As they make their way across a variety of unique environments and ruins, they can receive assistance from another player. However, the two aren't able to see each other's names or communicate normally. Instead, players communicate via 'singing' by emitting musical chimes. By relying on their in-game abilities, the two players help each other progress on their journey.Journey has been highly praised by critics and won many awards. Just some of these awards include the D.I.C.E. Awards, Game Developers Choice Awards, and the BAFTA Awards among others. In addition, it's also the fastest-selling PlayStation Network game of all time.
This remastered version will have some minor changes for its PC port. Primarily, the game will make use of 4K graphics to let players experience the haunting deserts like never before. There's no exact word on how exactly the multiplayer will work on the new system. The original version paired up players who both had PlayStation Network. Presumably, players will connect with other players with accounts on the Epic Games Store.
Embark on the Journey of a lifetime on June 6. Players can pre-order the game on Epic Games here for $5, which is $10 off its normal $15 price due to the Epic Mega Sale. The game is still available on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 via PlayStation Network.
