Halo is arguably Microsoft's largest gaming franchise, and the upcoming Halo: Outpost Discovery tour is something fans don't want to miss.
Coming this Summer, Halo: Outpost Discovery is a real-life, interactive exhibit with a plethora of interactive activities. There are quite a few "experiences" to interact with as well, some of which utilize VR technology and more.
The Hall of History will have replicas of Halo objects such as weapons, and even a life-sized Warthog. The Ring Experience is a "dome-based theatrical experience, featuring a never-before-seen exploration of a Halo ring." This sounds like it will utilize projectors on the aforementioned dome theater allowing viewers to experience a Halo ring as if they were on one themselves.
Other interactive exhibits include an escape room called Covenant Escape. Here, players work together in a Covenant ship-themed escape room and have to "disable the Covenant technology as quickly as possible" to get out. The Combat Deck is essentially Halo laser tag, meanwhile, the Training Grounds uses virtual reality to emulate Spartan training (which in the lore can be quite rigorous!).
These are some of the highlights being offered at Halo: Outpost Discovery events. It will also feature panels with "creators" and "special guests" as well as plenty of gameplay kiosks.
The whole event is said to take up over 300,000 square feet. Halo: Outpost Discovery is going to be featured all across the United States this Summer, starting in Orlando on Friday, July 5th and lasting throughout the weekend. You can see the full list and times as well as buy tickets for the event on the official website, although they are not inexpensive.
Halo: Operation Discovery is a few short months away, so be sure to jump on those tickets if you're interested!
Quick TakeThis is one of those times I'm disappointed that I live where I am. This sounds like the perfect event for me. I'm a huge Halo fan and I know we have others on the TechRaptor staff who are as well. I'm also impressed at how much they're doing here. It seems like Microsoft is really ramping up for some huge Halo news with an event like this. Just because of the timing of the event, I suspect that we'll get an official release date for the next Halo which will likely drop this year. But maybe that's just the mega-fan in me hoping.
