Sci-fi fans rejoice, there is now a release date for The Expanse: A Telltale Series. This videogame adaptation of the sci-fi series by the reconstituted Telltale Games, and will return to the studio's distinct episodic release format. Better still, fans will not need to wait long since the first episode will be arriving this July.
The Expanse: A Telltale Series Release Date
The release date for The Expanse: A Telltale Series was announced on Telltale's website. The series will be broken up into five downloadable episodes, with the very first episode premiering July 27 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store. Each subsequent episode will then premiere once every two weeks. Finally, Telltale has announced that both a Standard (MSRP $39.99) and Deluxe edition (MSRP $44.99) of the game will be available for pre-order on June 1. Both of these versions will include all five episodes, while the Deluxe Edition will include any and all future DLC released for the game. Lastly, those who pre-order the Standard or Deluxe Edition on PlayStation or Epic Games Store will receive 24-hour early access.
The Expanse: A Telltale Series is an adaptation of the 2012 novel series by James S.A. Corey. The nine-book series is set in the future where humanity has colonized most of the solar system. However, due to not having interstellar travel, tensions begin to rise between various human colonies on Earth, Mars, and the outer planets, leading to conflict. The series was adapted into a live-action TV series in 2015 by the Syfy channel, then later picked up by Amazon Prime, which ran for six seasons.
In this game, you play as Camina Drummer, the XO of a scavenger crew on the hunt for a mysterious treasure. To this end, you will have to deal with powerful personalities, square off against a mutiny, and make difficult decisions that will determine the fate of your crew. Actress Cara Gee will be reprising her role as Drummer in this videogame adaptation. This will be the first major release for this version of Telltale Games, the second being the (recently delayed) The Wolf Among Us 2.
