Ever wanted to be a medieval executioner? Well, the appropriately-named game The Executioner by Lesser Evil Games will let you do just that and it's making its way to Steam in July. There's a little more to the business than chopping off some heads, though — and The Executioner will fearlessly explore these terrible moral choices.

You'll be taking on the role of an executioner, just as you might expect. You'll have to hold the accused in prison, torture them, and potentially execute them depending on their crimes. Throughout the course of the game, you'll gain new skills, navigate through the primarily text-based story, and do your best to stay sane as you inflict horrible pain upon medieval criminals. You'll be able to play it for yourself when the game launches on July 17, 2019.
"We believe that our game provides an opportunity to live through a hard, painful and rather dark experience — and in the future to avoid the ethic trap in which the participants of Milgram experiment were caught — made ready, actually, to bring another person to death," said Lead Writer Elena Sivakova in a press release. "We want our players to fully understand the price of a lesser evil."
The Executioner will feature a mix of traditional role-playing game mechanics including exploration, investigation, and making some pretty hard choices. The game is set to be released episodically with the first episode coming out on July 17, 2019. Further episodes are expected to be released every two months after that. No price has been announced. In the meantime, why not add The Executioner to your Steam wishlist?
