Freedom Finger

Wide Right Games have announced some new details for their bat$#!% crazy space shooter, Freedom Finger, which was prominently featured at this year Kinda Funny ShowcaseFreedom Finger is a classic-style sidescrolling shooter in which you control a giant hand who has to stop terrorists who have taken control of America's moon-based research station. Obviously the tagline of 'bat$#!% crazy' is well deserved in this case.

Freedom Finger comes to us from the minds of Jim Dirschberger and Mark Zorn, with animations provided by Travis Miller and is a comedic, high-octane ride through space and good old fashions American patriotism. Through 36-levels of animated mayhem, players will have the power to grab any enemy and use them as a weapon on the fly. As well as featuring some pretty damn hilarious moments, just check out the trailer below, Freedom Finger also features the voice talents of veterans such as Nolan North and John DiMaggio.

Freedom Finger - Gameplay
Freedom Finger offers the ability to grab any enemy and use them against your other opponents. Wild!

The closed alpha will be heading our way in late August of 2019 and promises to reveal all of Freedom Finger's gameplay as well as one of the most important aspects, the story. Jim Dirschberger himself said: "It reveals the full story, which I think is one of the highlights of the game, in addition to all the levels, music, and art you get to see how it comes together story-wise, there’s a pretty wild twist at the end.”. As well as this closed alpha several 'slice of life' demos will also be available for those players who just cannot wait for the game.

We got a chance to ask Jim himself about his influences behind making the game into a comedy-based sidescrolling shooter and he said "I love films and games that can take somewhat serious topics and poke fun at them (Dr. Strangelove, The Stanley Parable, so on). My background is in comedy so it felt like the perfect genre to tackle." One thing is for sure, Freedom Finger is shaping up to be one hell of a wild ride when it comes out later this year. To keep up-to-date with the game you can check it out on Twitter as well as at the official website.
