Ex-Activision president and Acclaim Entertainment co-founder Greg Fischbach has founded a new publishing studio. Accelerate Games has been founded in conjunction with several other gaming luminaries and will publish its first title next year.

What is Accelerate Games?

According to Accelerate's newly-created official website - which is pretty barren right now - the studio "specializes in publishing indie titles" and working with developers with whom it partners. Accelerate will "select a limited number" of publishing projects and "truly partner" with the developers it works with in order to develop and produce new indie projects.

Alongside Fischbach, Accelerate Games has three other founders. Former Sony Online Entertainment technical director Philippe Clavel's role is listed as "Operations, Engineering and Gaming". Handling "Marketing, Data and Finance" is former Rabbit Inc strategy officer John Chao, and completing the studio's lineup is Signal Studios' GM Brett Gow. Accelerate's first title will be the next instalment in Gow and Signal's Toy Soldiers franchise, so the relationship between Accelerate and Signal is a little different to the regular deal between publishers and developers one might expect to see.

When will Accelerate's new Toy Soldiers game launch?

We don't have a specific release window for the next Toy Soldiers game. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the new game will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime next year. Fischbach says he hopes the new game will "recapture the attention" of previous Toy Soldiers players and also bring in new players who haven't tried the franchise yet.

We'll bring you more on Accelerate Games and the new Toy Soldiers title as soon as we get it. In the meantime, if you're an indie development hopeful - or you know someone who's looking for a publisher - then be sure to head over to Accelerate Games' website and send them a pitch for your game. Here's hoping the new Toy Soldiersgame turns out better than some of Acclaim's past projects.
