The Weird West genre has been getting more attention recently with games like Weird West,. Hard West, and others. Among all the upcoming games, Evil West has received a fair amount of attention and has announced a release date for later in 2022 on September 20th. Evil West Release Date
Earlier this year, the game Weird West by Wolf Eye Studios demonstrated a way to bring this popular genre to gaming with Evil West by Flying Wild Hog to come out later this year. Unlike Weird West, which is a top-down party-based RPG experience, Evil West goes the action adventure route with an emphasis on narrative. You will have access to quite the arsenal aimed at creating stylish combat, with a perk system and the ability to upgrade weapons as you play through the game.
You play as one of the remaining vampire hunters in this supernatural Old West, meaning you are one of the only people properly equipped to deal with the vampire threat against the United States. Classic Wild West tales are given a new fantastical spin as you slay monsters across the American frontier.
The Weird West genre can be traced back to the early twentieth century, and it became popularized in gaming with the release of the tabletop game Deadlands in 1996. The game was set in a Western universe where demons and other supernatural phenomena influence the land and the people. It eventually became a peer of the well-known Dungeons & Dragons series of games. It's clear that Evil West takes many ideas from the genre while also adding some sci-fi elements in terms of its futuristic weapons and evolution mechanics.
Evil West will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
