At the PC Gaming Show, Everspace 2 received a new trailer focused on exploration and dogfighting. More importantly, the space flight sim is getting a closed Alpha that starts very soon on Steam: June 15th.
Everspace 2 adds a lot to the original game, with a ton of classic RPG elements thrown into the mix. A singleplayer experience, you'll be looting your way through space as you travel a hand-crafted universe on your journey.
You won't be alone, either. There will be a lot of side characters joining you along the way, each with their own story to tell. They're not there to just tell a story, as their side missions have benefits you'll see in the endgame portion of Everspace 2. The endgame features the most difficult encounters, so experiencing those stories will be important beyond learning about the individual characters.
Taking place in space, there will be of course be a bunch of different alien species to encounter, outlaws to avoid and handle, and hidden treasures abound.
There will be a lot of loot to collect, including different ships. There will be a bunch of different ship classes, each of which you can customize to play just how you would like.
Everspace 2's own journey began on Kickstarter last year, where it had close to 8000 backers. With that crowdfunding effort being a success, the developers at Rockfish were able to expand their time, thereby allowing Everspace 2 to increase its scope. If you're a fan of Everspace, Everspace 2 seems like it's shaping up to be something you can't miss.
Everspace 2 does not have a release date yet, but that closed alpha does start in just a couple of days.
