Prepare yourself for a clash of two of the most unlikeliest sci-fi universes. An Eve Online Doctor Who crossover is happening later this month, bringing with it new areas of space, new enemies to take on, and new themed items and loot to gather.
What will the Eve Online Doctor Who crossover entail?
Looks like Eve Online can join the likes of Death Stranding and Cyberpunk 2077 in the odd crossover stakes. Eve Online developer CCP Games is calling this new event "The Interstellar Convergence", and it'll be the MMO's first ever crossover. It'll add new "Gallifrey-themed" space to the game in which you'll be able to look for artifacts from Doctor Who's Time War. These artifacts will in turn provide clues to help you track down the Daleks and battle them. Once you've emerged victorious (assuming you don't get exterminated), you'll be rewarded with unique Doctor Who-themed gear.
That's not all, though. Eve Online developer CCP is also running a login campaign for the duration of this crossover event. If you log in regularly, you'll get the chance to earn skill points and unique Doctor Who-themed goodies. CCP is staying tight-lipped as to what those goodies might be, so you'll need to get yourself into the game while the event is running if you want to find out what you're eligible for.
When is the Eve Online Doctor Who crossover release date?
You'll be able to check out this Eve Online Doctor Who crossover when it lands on January 13th. The event will run all the way through to February 1st, so you'll have until then to take a look at the unique Doctor Who-themed locations, enemies, and items that are coming to Eve Online. Only time will tell whether this will pave the way for further collaborations between Eve Online and other sci-fi universes. Star Trek, anyone? Battlestar Galactica, perhaps? Hey, maybe even a Mass Effect crossover, like the one No Man's Sky got last year.
It's all go for Eve Online right now. In late 2020, CCP announced it was working with outsourcing studio Sperasoft on a new shooter set in the Eve universe. We haven't heard much about that new project yet, but we're hoping we get more info about it in the next few months. In the meantime, you can download and play Eve Online right now for free on PC (although some of its features are locked behind an optional paid subscription).
