Rocket League developer Psyonix and Euro Truck Simulator 2 developer SCS Software will be doing a cross promotion by adding cosmetic items to each other's games according to news posts on SCS Software's and Rocket League's websites, respectively.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 will have the Octane car body as a toy for the dashboard as well as Rocket League's ball as a hanging item on the rearview mirror. Rocket League will be receiving an antenna decoration that looks like one of the classic trucks from Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Euro Truck Simulator 2's end of the cross-promotion is going live today according to a blog post on SCS Software's site. Cabin physics are also being added to the base game; they were previously only available as part of the Cabin Accessories DLC.
A few people have been asking in the comments on SCS Software's blogpost if the promotional items would be ported to American Truck Simulator. American Truck Simulator (which I reviewed for TechRaptor) is lacking in cosmetic options compared to its predecessor but it also hasn't been out nearly as long as Euro Truck Simulator 2 has (over 3 1/2 years).
Rocket League is doing more than just the one cross-promotion. A few new antennas were added on April 25, 2016 with the launch of Patch 1.17. These include crossovers with Goat Simulator, Portal, The Witcher, and Worms W.M.D.
The 1.17 update added the much-anticipated "Hoops" mode to the game which incorporates basketball-like rules into the game. The different game rules are dependent on the map you choose. Hoops has been added to 2v2 as an unranked playlist and will also be available for teams in any size in Exhibition Mode and Private Matches.
What do you think of games that do cross-promotions? Are you a fan of both Rocket League and Euro Truck Simulator 2? Would these kind of cosmetic crossovers entice you to play either of the games? Let us know in the comments below!
