In a recent tweet, Battlestate Games has revealed that they would be upgrading the Escape From Tarkov servers later today between 5 PM EST to 10 PM EST. They also stated that they would replacing the backend, which makes this a pretty substantial update to the playing experience of Escape From Tarkov.
This news will most likely be welcomed by the community at large, due to how widespread server issues have become for so many. Literally thousands of people at varying times have been unable to play the game they've played for, and since backends and game servers aren't cheap, it really must've been bad for Battlestate Games to take this drastic step in order to solve the issue. This decision might have also been influenced by the amount of cheaters that have been infesting the game, which in mid-January was around 2,000 banned cheaters a day.
Escape From Tarkov is a hardcore first-person RPG/Simulator with MMO elements. It's a game that demands patience and skill, so to have yourself either die to server issues or unable to play during a critical period would definitely be a downer. We'll have to see if the upgrades fix the rampant issues many have been facing. Hopefully it does.

It sucks when you like a game and are unable to play it due to server updates, but this definitely seems like something worth waiting for. When a game is online-only you want to have good servers, and up until now Tarkov's servers have from all accounts been mediocre at best. 5 hours is a long time to have downtime, but considering they are replacing and modernizing the backend and game servers I'm surprised it isn't much longer.
