The new Scorpion SRV ground vehicle has arrived in Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 9 alongside an optimization pass and several other improvements to the space game.
Elite Dangerous is a game that's all about a big galaxy and even bigger ships. Frontier Developments expanded the gameplay to planets with the announcement of the Elite Dangerous: Odyssey expansion, which finally launched earlier this year. Now, you're able to drive on planets in style with a brand-new ground vehicle called the Scorpion SRV.
What's New in Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 9?
The headliner for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 9 is the Scorpion SRV, a new ground vehicle that packs a much heavier punch than the Scarab. Not only is the Scorpion faster -- it also has a Surge Repeater gun and Aculeus Launcher rockets. You can get your hands on this new SRV in military economies.
Mind, spacefaring players aren't being left out with this update - Multi-Limpet Controller Modules are a new kind of module that lets you program Limpets for various tasks, ultimately increasing the flexibility of your ship should you choose to equip it.
Another chunk of this update has focused on optimization in both graphics and physics. Elite: Dangerous can be a graphically hefty game, so it's always nice to see Frontier Developments helping us squeeze a few more frames out of our graphics cards.
These aren't the only changes in today's update; you can read about all of the new stuff in the full Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 9 patch notes (via Reddit). If you haven't yet checked this game out, you can buy Elite Dangerous for PC and consoles starting at $29.99 or your regional equivalent. And if you prefer an older style of game, don't forget that you can download the original Elite for free on Frontier's website.
