Three players trudging towards a colosseum in the Elden Ring Colosseum Update

Bandai Namco has announced a new Elden Ring update, so get ready to head back to the Lands Between. The Colosseum Update does exactly what you'd expect: it opens up several colosseums within Elden Ring's world, allowing you to take part in new PvP battles.

Previous Elden Ring updates have altered the mechanics of PvP in pretty profound ways, so it's obvious that From Software and Bandai Namco want you to have an exciting PvP experience. That, it seems, is what the new Colosseum Update is geared towards; it's all about expanding your options for destroying your fellow Tarnished in stylish and fun ways.

Per a new trailer, three colosseums are opening in Elden Ring: one in Limgrave, one in Leyndell, and one in Caelid. They will offer new PvP modes to engage in, and although Bandai Namco is remaining relatively tight-lipped as to what those modes might be, you should be pretty excited if you're a fan of the multiplayer in Elden Ring. You can check out the Colosseum Update announcement trailer here.

The trailer shows players duking it out in the three different colosseums, with Caelid's characteristic red sky clearly visible in one of them. Players are shown fighting using summoned monsters and even battling one another in teams, so it looks like you won't just be fighting one-on-one this time.

It's worth noting that an arena multiplayer mode for Elden Ring was hinted at all the way back in March by trusted Souls voice Lance McDonald, who tweeted that a multiplayer arena update was "probably" on the cards for the game. Excitingly, McDonald has also pointed out that Elden Ring's 1.07 update contained references to two maps that "do not yet otherwise exist". This could be a reference to the colosseums in this update, but there are three of those, not two. Perhaps more Elden Ring DLC awaits in future?

You can pick up Elden Ring right now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Stay tuned to TechRaptor for more information about From Software's latest action RPG.
