Since Mass Effect Andromeda (and, to a lesser extent, Mass Effect 3) wasn't well-received by players, the ground is fertile for a parody. That's just what publisher EG7 and developer Toadman Studios intend to deliver with Minimal Affect, a comedy space adventure with a diverse crew of cosmic misfits. Do you see what they did there?

Creative director Rasmus Davidsson says Minimal Affect is an homage to the "greatest sci-fi RPGs, movies, and shows" that the dev crew loves. You take control of the crew of the Star Alliance Balding Eagle as it sets off on its maiden journey. Naturally, things get very scary very fast, and the team must turn to its "fearless" leader to sort things out. Toadman and EG7's game aims to combine Venture Bros-style adult animation with Mass Effect space RPG shenanigans. You can check out the announcement trailer for Minimal Affect right here:

Although Minimal Affect's story may be ridiculous, Toadman and EG7 assure us that the gameplay "certainly is not". The team says this will be a fully-fledged sci-fi action RPG complete with Mass Effect-style tactical combat and exploration. You'll meet new characters, assign new skills to your team, take on some sidequests, and do everything you'd expect to be able to do in a sci-fi epic like this. Sounds like fans of BioWare's work will love this one.

Minimal Affect is targeting a 2021 release. The devs say it's coming to "most major consoles" as well as PC. With a 2021 release date target, whether that means current or next-gen consoles or both is unclear. When we know more about the release date, we'll let you know. Until then, you can keep up with the game via its official website.
