Releasing next month Titanfall 2 seeks to bring players back into the fast paced mech filled multiplayer shooter. Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by EA it seems that Respawn has decided to not include Titanfall 2 in the EA/Origin Access package.

For EA games usually owners of EA/Origin Access get an exclusive trial period of the game before release date, and a 10% discount that can be applied to getting the game if they enjoy it. This was the case for Titanfall 2 but as of last week this is no longer happening. GameReactor received a statement from Respawn Entertainment confirming that there wouldn't be a discount or trial for the PC or Xbox One. They gave no further explanation for their decision aside from that the might reconsider its stance on the matter post-2016.

While it is unusual for an EA game to not be included in EA/Origin Access it's good to remember this is a special case as usually EA develops their games in house, this is a special case deal with Respawn so there are bound to be some differences in approaches.

Titanfall 2 is set to release on the 28th of October and will be available on Xbox One, PC, and for the first time on PlayStation 4.

Quick Take

The original Titanfall was a fast paced shooter with inventive and fun mechanics, but it just wasn't a game that took as strongly as people hoped. Though additional maps were added for free it still wasn't able to maintain the momentum. With the sequel Respawn is opening up the audience to PlayStation 4, adding in more features, and even putting in a single player story. It will be interesting to see how the launch period and subsequent months go for Titanfall 2 as opposed to the original and see whether Respawn gets their multiplayer hit.
