EA Sports Package Madden 15

What began as a sad example of poor sportsmanship has turned into a fairy tale ending; EA has donated a whole care package of goodies to a ten year old boy following a story of him being cheated out of a prize during a Cowboy's playoff game.

Ten year old Roman of Amarillo, Texas, was participating in a game of musical chairs during a pre-game celebration before the playoff match between the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys. Young Roman was able to win first place in the contest, which would guarantee him a lovely prize, a free copy of Madden 15 for the Playstation 4.

However, the woman running the contest denied him his prize, and forced the child to participate in a redoing of the contest, rigging it so he would come in second instead. The reason? Roman was a Lion's fan, and  was wearing his teams colors on stage. Once the hosts found out this little fact, they changed the contest rules and essentially robbed him of his well deserved copy of Madden.

All of this, of course, was caught on video.

Young Roman would go away with a compensatory prize, a copy of the first season of Batman '66. Later, after Roman's family began to complain about the conduct of the staff during the little event, they compensated by giving them a Led Zeppelin CD.  According to the family, “It’s not about the prizes, it’s about how they cheated Roman out because he was a Lions fan.”

The story was first reported on Amarillo radio station KISS FM 96.9, with the video above appearing online. After hearing about the story, Electronic Arts' EA Sports division decided to prepare a special care package for Roman. They are sending him not only a PS4 copy of Madden 15, but also a brand new Playstation 4 and a mini Lion's helmet autographed by wide receiver Calvin Johnson, Roman's favorite player.

So good on EA for giving young Roman something special after something so embarrassing.

Editor's Update: Fixed the mistake of compilation prize to the proper compensatory prize.
