Today Electronic Arts has revealed the branding of its new soccer/football game EA Sports FC.

The brand, which will debut this year and will replace the ultra-popular FIFA brand following the divorce between the publisher and the sport's governing body, has been revealed today and you can see it above.

According to the press release, we'll see it appear at over 100 matches around the world across several partnered leagues including Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, WSL, NWSL, CONMEBOL, and more.

Specifically, we learn that the game will be "built on a foundation of inclusivity and innovation" and it'll feature "more than 19,000 fully licensed players, 700 teams and 30 leagues, with the support of over 300 global football partners" including "both women’s and grassroots football."

Apparently, a full reveal is coming in July, so we'll have to wait a bit longer to hear more.

Interestingly, many leagues and clubs from all over the world saluted the reveal of the logo by sharing their own version on social media. The game certainly appears to have widespread support among the major players in the sport.

We also get an explanation of the new logo.

The new brand takes its design inspiration directly from the beautiful game and a dominant shape in football culture that represents the sport in multiple dimensions, triangles. From passing techniques to set plays, the shape has also been woven into the DNA of EA SPORTS football experiences for decades; from the isometric angles of our very first 8-bit experiences and the triangular polygons that make up every pixel of our most modern games, as well the iconic player indicator symbol that appears above every athlete in every match.

The press release also included a statement from EA Sports FC General Manger Nick Wlodyka

This is where the story of EA SPORTS FC begins. We’re building on 30 years of leadership and history creating experiences that bring the global football community together, and continuing to take it into a fan-first future. EA SPORTS FC will be a symbol for the sport, a symbol of innovation and change, and we’re energized to show our fans more about the future in July.
