The EA Play Live 2021 dates and Devolver Digital's summer plans have both been announced today, setting the stage for big game releases and all kinds of wacky antics.
EA Play Live is the yearly media show for Electronic Arts to strut its stuff. Last year's show was a digital-only experience like pretty much every other major gaming event. Unfortunately, we don't yet know whether this year's EA Play Live will be a digital-only or in-person event.
When is EA Play Live 2021?
EA Play Live 2021 will be July 22, 2021, according to a tweet from Electronic Arts. We don't have any solid confirmation on what games we can expect to see.
What about E3 2021, though? Well, Electronic Arts still isn't listed as a participant for this year's show. We've known that E3 2021 was in the works for several months now and that it will be a free, digital-only show.
Mind, the EA Play Live 2021 announcement doesn't mean that EA won't participate at all; after all, plenty of game companies make appearances at other shows and save some announcements for a later event. That said, it doesn't look likely that Electronic Arts will participate in E3 2021 this year as far as we can tell.
Also Announced: Devolver Digital Getting Ready for E3 2021
The EA Play 2021 date isn't the only summer gaming event announcement — Devolver Digital is also getting ready for E3 2021.
"E3 plans have been made," read a Twitter thread from Devolver Digital. "Probably June 12."
Big media events like this can be huge, ostentatious events, but Devolver Digital really takes the cake with its shows. Its past E3 events in 2018, 2019, and other years have consistently provided game announcements in the most absurd way possible while also advancing the Devolver Digital lore. Yes, that's right — Devolver's E3 shows have an ongoing storyline.
As for what we can expect to see, one person asked if Devolver had anything good to show this year and he got a response in the characteristic Devolver style: "Not really."
You'll be able to see Devolver Digital's E3 antics on June 12, 2021 (probably) and you can catch EA Play Live 2021 on July 22, 2021.
