The Xbox Game Pass EA Play PC launch has been delayed to sometime in 2021, owing to a vague need for "more time" to provide players with the best experience.
Xbox Game Pass is a game subscription service for Microsoft with three distinct versions: one for console, one for PC, and an "Ultimate" version that gives players access to a library of games on PC, Console, and Android phones via Xbox Game Streaming technology as a monthly subscription.
EA Play is a somewhat smaller service but obviously offers titles within the EA family of published titles. Aside from discounts on EA games and the opportunity to play select new titles for up to 10 hours, players also get access to a collection of EA games and exclusive rewards.
EA Play for console games are already available for Xbox Game Pass with news of Gamepass PC getting parity but it seems that there's been a change in plan. Unfortunately, these plans have hit a hitch and there is going to be a delay for the Xbox Game Pass EA Play PC debut.
Why is the Xbox Game Pass EA Play PC Launch Delayed?
One might wonder — why was the Xbox Game Pass EA Play PC launch delayed? There's certainly a reason behind the longer wait, but the Xbox folks are unfortunately not sharing any specific details.
"When we originally set out to write this blog post, which would announce the availability of EA Play on PC with Xbox Game Pass, it looked a little bit different," read the Xbox news post. "Unfortunately, what had been a celebratory post is now one asking for a little more patience: We made the decision to delay until 2021 the release of EA Play on PC as part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate memberships."
"We established this partnership with Electronic Arts because they are as passionate as we are about helping people and communities discover great games, and we knew we could provide a great experience for members by working together. In order to deliver on that, we need more time to provide the Xbox Game Pass experience."
When is the New Xbox Game Pass EA Play PC Release Date?
Regrettably, there's no info on the new Xbox Game Pass EA Play PC release date, either, aside from a promise that subscribers will get access to this content sometime in 2021. The Xbox team says that we'll learn more about this sometime in early 2021.
