Total War: Warhammer was a surprise for many, and I imagine introduced more than a few to the Warhammer universe, at least introduced them past the point that they are aware Warhammer exists. Total War: Warhammer was just the first of a trilogy, however, and the sequel, Total War: Warhammer II, is due out September 28th, 2017 on PC. I had the opportunity to sit down with one of the developers and ask him a few questions.

There's been some concern over what this Grand Campaign, the campaign over the planned trilogy of games, means for the preceding games in the series. What do all of the changes in Warhammer II mean for the first game? Will the races in that game be competitive? Will new mechanics be introduced into the original? We get into that some in the interview.
Mods have been pretty huge for every Total War game, with many mods proving extremely popular. We talk some about mods of games, how they may have affected development, and some of Creative Assembly's approach to them overall. Yes, Total War: Warhammer II will of course support mods and Creative Assembly will have some more information about the mod tools and other things later.
As far as I can tell, those that like the original Total War: Warhammer should be excited for the sequel. It's more of the same with some changes and additions, and for those that enjoy the Warhammer universe, Warhammer II features a larger narrative. We talk some more about the narrative in the interview as well.
