E3 is just around the corner, and the launch of PlayStation VR won’t be too long after that. So, it’s fitting that this summer we will begin to learn more about the games that will be launching with PlayStation VR, and Moto Racer 4 is the latest game to fit the bill. Moto Racer was recently given the release date of October 13th, 2016, but today we learned that the game will be compatible with PlayStation VR, as well as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac.

Check out the first teaser trailer for the game below:

Just from the name alone it would be safe to assume that Moto Racer 4 is a motocross racing game. However, there may be more than just that to the game. The Moto Racer series has enjoyed moderate success over the years, and the series has sold over seven million copies combined since the original launched. Moto Racer 4 will include the standard game modes for any racing game such as time trials, single race, and a championship mode, as well as some new features for the series. Here is a list of some of the new features taken from their latest press release:

  • Alternating high-speed road and dirt motocross courses
  • Traffic on the road
  • Split-screen multiplayer mode for offline competition
  • Online multiplayer mode for 2-10 players
  • 60 frames per second frame rate
  • Vehicle and rider customization
  • Possibility of colliding with opponents
  • Each computer rider has a different personality and behavioral traits
  • 15 single and multi-player game modes

Moto Racer 4 is being developed by Micorids and Artefacts Studio, and the original creator of the series is helping to oversee the project. This upcoming motocross racing game is being developed on Unreal Engine 4. Moto Racer 4 will also be at this year’s E3 along with other Microid titles.

Quick Thoughts:

If PlayStation VR is to succeed right off the bat, then it’s going to need games, and of all the genres, racing games seem to make the most sense for VR. We actually have an interview with a developer of Project CARS, Andy Tudor, here on TechRaptor where we discuss why racing games lend themselves so well to virtual reality. You can check out that full interview here. Moto Racer 4 looks like it could be a solid launch game for PlayStation VR, but only time will tell.
