SUPERHOT is white hot once more.

Independent developer Superhot's self-titled game received a nice teaser trailer, showcasing the unique gameplay mechanics found in the first person shooter.

The big draw of SUPERHOT is the fact that the game only moves when the player moves. According to the press release, SUPERHOT "aims to finally add something new and disruptive to the FPS genre. See the bullets crawling towards you as you carefully plan your steps and aim your gun. Enjoy the mayhem that is unleashed as you put that plan into motion. Dodge bullets. Take out your enemies. One step at a time.”

The mechanic itself is innovative enough to give SUPERHOT a strong cult following.  Developed as a seven day FPS jam session by the small polish development team in August 2013, the group presented a prototype of SUPERHOT at the WGC Conference in September 2013, winning the Developer Showcase Award.

Shortly after, the SUPERHOT prototype was released on the internet for free, where it quickly became a sensation for many fans, including a Steam Greenlight bid. Developer Superhot decided to take it a step further, and launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in May 2014,  beating their initial $100,000 goal and earning over $250,000 in the process

The original prototype is still playable on the official SUPERHOT website.

Currently, the game is being developed simultaneously for the Xbox One and the PC. It is scheduled for a release later this year. Developer Superhot is also promising early beta builds of the game to kickstarter backers after E3 is finished.

Customers can also pre-order SUPERHOT directly from the developers. Several versions are available, including an Early Bird Access version of the game for $40.00.

So is Superhot on your radar now? Will this independent game break the glass ceiling in the crowded FPS market? Leave your comments below.
