Imagine how much more exciting this reveal would have been if Far Cry 4 hadn't have been announced? It didn't matter too much in the end though, because opening the show with the first five minutes of Far Cry 4 footage was still pretty exciting.

First of all, the game looks gorgeous, it's a colourful exotic environment that's brimming with detail.

It opens in a way reminiscent of the very beginning of Far Cry 2 (being driven through a hostile environment), before it explosively introduces us to the game's new villain(?). It's then very reminiscent of Far Cry 3, including over the top creepy villainy and a bit where said villain pulls out a mobile phone. It was effective footage that established a tone pretty well, but the really interesting part came with a small speech afterwards.

The on stage developer said that after this impressive opening you are left in the world with minimal equipment. This sandbox approach sounds fascinating and if they really do pull of the idea that every moment is a unique story, this is going to be very special. It seems like they are really focusing on immersing you in the world and letting you carve a path, we'll find out more pretty soon!
