A Massive Success for Youthcat Studio

Dyson Sphere Program sales have been pretty phenomenal; this brand-new game from Youthcat Studio has sold 200,000 copies in its first four days.

You might not have heard of Dyson Sphere Program. That's certainly understandable — the game only got its release date announcement in early December 2020 and it launched on Steam and WeGame last Thursday. Since then, however, it's proven to be a phenomenal success.

You can get an idea of what its all about by checking out the Dyson Sphere Program Release Date Announcement Trailer:

What is Dyson Sphere Program?

Dyson Sphere Program is a game that's similar in many ways to Factorio or Satisfactory. Both of these games task players with building massive automated factories, but this new game from Youthcat Studio takes things up a notch in terms of scale.

Central to the game's design is the idea of a Dyson Sphere, a theoretical megastructure that aims to fully harness the power of a star. A sufficiently-advanced civilization could build a structure that completely surrounds a star and collect most (or all!) of its energy, fueling the proverbial furnaces of civilization.

That's one of the many things you'll be doing in this game. You've been tasked by the space alliance COSMO to provide the power and resources needed by humanity to fuel its technology. You aren't building your factory on one island or one continent or even one planet — you have an entire solar system at your fingertips, and that's only the start.

200K Dyson Sphere Program Sales in Just 4 Days

The idea of this game certainly sounds pretty appealing to people who like to tinker with industrial machines. That's probably why Dyson Sphere Program sales have been so good. The developers announced their early success on Twitter, promising that this was just the beginning of the game's endeavors.

"Our journey across the universe has just begun — but it couldn't have had a better start: Dyson Sphere Program has sold over 200,000 copies in just 4 days!" read a portion of the announcement from the developers. "We are incredibly thankful for the wonderful reception our game has had so far."

Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel "ZhugeEX" Ahmad adds some critical context about the developers in a tweet from the game's launch day. This interplanetary factory game was created by a team of just five people based in Chongqing, China, following a successful crowdfunding campaign.

At the moment, Dyson Sphere Program is still in Steam Early Access and is expected to work its way up to its full version in around a year. If that sounds like your kind of jam, you can buy Dyson Sphere Program on Steam for $17.99 or your regional equivalent, a 10% launch week discount.
