If you're been following Dying Light you know there's been a lot of talk from them recently celebrating what has happened so far since the game's successful launch and looking back at the time since with hints of more to come. Today, we got the information on the expansion that Techland was teasing for Dying Light and it is to be called The Following.

The Following is a story-based expansion pack with new features like the teased vehicles that you will be able to drive around in with the expansion. The new map, according to Techland's Tymon Smektala the producer for the expansion, is the same size as all the other maps in Dying Light combined so will have a lot of new content for players to experience. He added that, "We’re adding a number of bold game-changers to create one massive expansion. Something big that will give the game a brand-new flavor," which promises that fans of the game will be able to find a lot more in The Following to playing around with.

Dying Light: The Following is also going to be free for all season pass owners, adding a full sized expansion onto the DLC that they have already received, with standalone pricing still to come. It is going to be shown off at Gamescon behind close doors with public reveals to come shortly after, but as of now we have no date for when you can expect to grab The Following. A few screenshots were released alongside that which we'll give you here to look at to sate your hunger for details in the meantime.

Quick Take

Dying Light received pretty good reviews and it's season pass was generally well received, but this is going above and beyond there with an expansion being added in for those who bought into the season pass. It's a nice gesture to the fans and it means that when Tymon says that they're developing it for the fans I'm more inclined to listen then I am when companies so often say such platitudes while grabbing at every penny. Not that its new, they released free DLC and the mod tools that the community requested as well!
