The Dying Light 2 New Game Plus update has arrived, bringing with it a whole new way to experience the City. If you head into New Game Plus, you'll find new objectives, collectibles, and weapons, plus enemy scaling and much more.

How does Dying Light 2 New Game Plus work?

On Monday, Techland revealed the Dying Light 2 New Game Plus update release date. Now, the update is upon us, and we've got a better idea of exactly how New Game Plus will operate. After you finish the main story of the game, you can choose to start a new run with "revitalized mechanisms", according to Techland. These include 30 new inhibitors, as well as new "platinum" objectives to chase in parkour challenges. Enemy distribution in New Game Plus has been updated; you'll find Volatiles and Banshees spawning in the night, for example, and enemy encounters will include wider and more diverse enemy pools.

Dying Light 2's New Game Plus mode will add new enemy pools, extra inhibitors, and more.

The New Game Plus mode will also include a new legendary weapon tier, so you can hunt down extra gear for Aiden's quest. You'll also find new Gold encounters to take on, as well as enemies that scale with your level, making for a more reactive and responsive challenge as you make your way through the City. All in all, if you've already finished Dying Light 2 and you're looking for a reason to head back into the City, New Game Plus looks like it's going to give you just that.

What else is in this Dying Light 2 update?

This is a pretty big Dying Light 2 update; there's much more in there than New Game Plus. One of the biggest new additions is a new quest titled Something Big Has Been Here. It includes new special Goon variants with an elemental twist, so make sure to take it on if you're looking for new things to do. Hopefully, it'll be more memorable than the majority of the game's existing side quests. The update also brings an FOV slider for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as UI texture optimization and a host of bug fixes across areas like co-op multiplayer, quest design, and UI. All told, Dying Light 2 should be a more stable experience after the update. You can read the full patch notes here if you want to see everything that's changed.

If exploration and parkour are your thing in Dying Light 2, then New Game Plus has plenty of new challenges for you.

Dying Light 2 has been pretty successful since it launched back in February. It didn't take long after launch for the game to soar past 3 million sales, and Techland recently announced that sales have crossed 5 million, so it's fair to call this one a success. If you've yet to experience the game, you can pick it up now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. A cloud gaming version for the Nintendo Switch is also in development, but was delayed earlier this year in order to ensure higher quality. We'll bring you more on this as soon as we get it.
