Chromatic Games popular Tower Defense RPG, Dungeon Defenders, is looking to get a re-release for the Nintendo Switch.

Now titled Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, the game is an updated version of Dungeon Defenders, first released in 2011. The game is a tower defense game mixed with action RPG elements, where players play as one of four classes to defend the heart of their dungeons from incoming hordes of enemies. The game is meant to be a cooperative experience, where the only way for players to survive is to work together and formulate a strategic defense against the oncoming hordes.

The games new story will combine the sequel, Dungeon Defenders 2, with the original game, as the heroes travel back in time to take on to face a time-altering menace who could "reshape the past, present, and future of Dungeon Defenders."

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened updates the game by using Unreal Engine 4 to smooth out the game's graphics and increase the visual fidelity. The game also includes new stories, bosses, and maps to tackle, and improved attack animations from the previous version.

Other changes listed by Chromatic Games include quality of life improvements, from changing up the user interface, improving the stats of weapons and gear, and even adding Twitch integration for online streaming. They even included chat integration for online play, and have made quality of life improvements to the games online and split-screen co-op mode.

All of the changes make Dungeon Defenders: Awakened a fantastic update for the game,  with Chromatic Games planning on more updates before its release.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened will be coming out on the PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Chromatic Games has set up a Kickstarter Page for pre-orders and mentions that the game will be released on the Switch first as a console timed exclusive.
