Dreams

At today's State of Play, Sony had several announcements. However, one was on the release date of the long-awaited Dreams, which will be launching on February 14th, 2020.

Looking to spread a little love on Valentine's Day, Dreams will be launching in full. This means the campaign, which wasn't available in the game's Early Access period, will be playable now. The game's campaign is broken into three different stories each of which with its own unique gameplay style. One is a puzzle game about a fox and bear saving their pet dragon, another is a detective noir point-and-click adventure, while the third is a sci-fi platformer. Up until now, users haven't been able to play these campaigns, but they'll be included in the full release.

But really, the star of the show is the editor. Dreams is a full game creation tool that you use to, well, create games. It's not too much unlike the popular LittleBigPlanet series, but while LittleBigPlanet had a focus on 2.5d platformers that sort of awkwardly did everything else, Dreams is a full sandbox. Only time will tell if these games will really be good, or if the community will rally together, but the initial thoughts have been rather positive. We've seen players make everything from racing games, to cyberpunk first-person shooters, to giant monster simulators. It seems like we're going to see even more when the game finally hits its full release.

Dreams launches exclusively on PlayStation 4 on February 14th, 2020 for the price of $39.99. Anyone who bought the Early Access will get the full game upgrade for free.

How do you feel about Dreams? Got any ideas on the type of games you'll be making? Think you're mostly just interested in other people's games? Let us know in the comments below!
