If social deduction and wintry survival be your bag, then you'll be happy to know there's a new Dread Hunger roadmap. The devs are promising lots of new content for 2022, including new cosmetics, extra prestige tiers, and a new area, plus plenty more.
What's in the 2022 Dread Hunger roadmap?
After launching back in November last year, Arctic social deduction survival game Dread Hunger is getting its first major content roadmap for 2022. The imaginatively-named Dread Hunger Team has sorted its upcoming content into "Coming Soon" and "Plans" categories; if something is Coming Soon, it'll launch "shortly", while Plans are long-term additions that will be introduced to Dread Hunger throughout the rest of 2022. You can take a look at everything Dread Hunger is getting in the coming months right here.
First up on Dread Hunger's list are new prestige levels and new cosmetic types. Prestige is getting new tiers that will give out new rewards, and the devs are looking to introduce something other than "rings, hats, and pipes" for their cosmetic options. In the long term, Dread Hunger is getting new prestige cosmetics, as well as the ability to customize spells and your ship. In addition, you're also getting more thrall spells, extra stuff to do in lobbies while waiting for games, and a brand new dockside area. It's a pretty good time to be a Dread Hunger fan.
What is Dread Hunger?
If you haven't heard of Dread Hunger, here's a quick primer. It's a survival-based social deduction game in which a crew of eight takes a ship through the Arctic. Of that crew, two are traitors, and can use "dark powers" to undermine the rest of the crew. Survivors must fend off animals, keep themselves warm, and watch out for the traitorous knives at their back. It's not dissimilar to 2019's Project Winter, which takes place in a similar snowy locale. This one has ships, though, so it's more like Sea of Thieves meets Among Us.
You can grab Dread Hunger right now on Steam. If you're a fan of social deduction games like Town of Salem (which is getting a followup soon), this is one you're going to want to look at. The Dread Hunger devs say they're also cooking up more updates and surprises for the rest of 2022, so if you don't see something you want on this roadmap, there's a chance it might get introduced later down the line. Now if you'll excuse us, we've got to be somewhere that definitely isn't your ship's engine room with a barrel of oil and a match.
