The Capcom RPG Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen will be getting a second console release, this time for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, to celebrate the five year anniversary of the release of Dragon's Dogma according to Gematsu.
Dark Arisen was the second, updated version of Capcom's original Dragon's Dogma, an RPG first released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in May of 2012. The game features a customizable player character, who embarks on a quest as "The Arisen" to save the world from external threats and giant monsters. Using action style combat and a "grab" system to climb onto giant monsters, Dragon's Dogma was a very well received action-RPG when it was released, with positive reviews praising the visuals, atmosphere and combat system, as well as the use of "pawns" in the game.
The "pawn" system, allows players to create their own customizable party members and rent them out to other players on the internet. Other players renting out your pawns grants them experience and in-game hints that can help the player complete quests or fight monsters. This also unlocks items and skills for your pawns, as well as providing the player a chance for a fully decked out party to fight enemies and go through different quest lines.
Dark Arisen was released a year after the original release of Dragon's Dogma, and contained numerous improvements to the main game. Some of these improvements included a fast travel system, new weapons and items, questlines and a new area to explore, as well as access to all the DLC released for the original title. Capcom also released Dark Arisen for the PC for the first time in January of last year, with the PC version of the game getting strong reviews.
The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Dark Arisen will be released later this fall, along with the PC version of the game getting a release in Japan for the first time.
