Atlus has announced a May 15th release date for Dragon's Crown Pro, the PS4 remaster of Vanillaware's stylish PS3 beat-'em-up. This announcement comes the same week as it launches in Japan. The release date reveal comes roughly two months after Atlus initially announced the remaster for the West. Dragon's Crown Pro will come with a new and updated soundtrack from composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, as well as 4K visuals and dual audio. Fans of the original will also be able to bring their saves forward, as well as play across all platforms. Dragon's Crown Pro will run $49.99 USD / $64.99 CAD when it comes to our shores on May 15th, 2018.
Atlus also pushed a new trailer showing off the co-op for Dragon's Crown Pro last week. With co-op one of the main selling features of Dragon's Crown Pro, the trailer takes time to showcase a number of characters and skills. Dragon's Crown Pro will come with both couch and online co-op, much like the original. The remaster has also clearly preserved Vanillaware's gorgeous art and animation, if the trailer is anything to go by. Pre-orders of Dragon's Crown Pro will net you the game in a steelbook, as well as a set of seven skill cards from the game, all for no extra cost. Atlus also updated the Dragon's Crown Pro website with a set of Valentine's Day cards. Featuring two cards for each character, the puns on the cards elicit anything from a light chuckle to a groan. I'm partial to the elf cards, myself.

Vanillaware fans looking for a PC release will be sorely disappointed, however. Though Atlus and Vanillaware have not explicitly denied a PC release, it seems increasingly unlikely that we'll see this release make its way onto Steam or another retailer. Unfortunately for PC fans, Vanillaware have no experience developing for PC, and Atlus is sorely limited to publishing games like Rock of Ages II. Even if Atlus does decide to bring any of the Persona games to PC, as might have been suggested in their yearly survey, there was no mention of non-Atlus developed titles coming to PC. In any case, PS4 owners can get their hands on Dragon's Crown Pro on May 15th, 2018.
